Classification Status

Source of the information : Classification society or IHS Fairplay

This information is about the "class certificate" of a ship. If a ship is classed by a classification society which provides data to Equasis, the information is supplied directly by this provider, for other classification societies (and only for those), the information is provided by IHS Fairplay.

One ship may be "classed" by several classification societies.

If the certificate is provided directly by a classification society, you will find the latest "status" for the certificate, the date of change to this last status and eventually the reason of this modification of status if relevant. For certificates provided through IHS Fairplay, the reason of the change is not provided.

You will find historical information in the "History" page of the ship as well, with corresponding dates of changes.

Classification Survey

Source of the information : Classification society

When a ship is classed by a classification society which is a provider of Equasis, it is possible to see more details on the surveys conducted for this ship. If you click on "details", you will be redirected to the website of the classification society who will provide more details on statutory certificates, machinery and hull for this ship, dates of expiry for surveys, detailed status, comments and a lot more.

The level of details and the layout of the data depends on each society.
